Most of the time I’m confused by Katherine. Deep inside of her I think she still has her humanity. I just think that after 500 years spent running and caring only for herself she reluctantly let that side emerge. She can care but let’s just say it’s not one of her priorities. But sometimes she does. And now let’s talk about love. I don’t think she’s incapable of loving. But she said it herself, she didn’t let love get in the way. I think that in her way she did love. In 1864 she wanted to spend the eternity with Stefan and Damon but somewhere along the way she chose. Well, honestly I think she never had a doubt about who she loved between the two brothers. I think on some level she cares about Damon, but I don’t believe when she says she loved him. Everything proves the contrary. Saying it aloud it doesn’t make it true. For me actions speak louder than words. And everything Katherine did was for herself or Stefan. True, she saved Damon when she could just let him die (proving that she can care if she wants to). But when she had to pick a brother, she always chose Stefan. Every single time. They both died trying to save her but when she turned back she went to Stefan. She said she loved him and they would be together again. She wanted to see Stefan one last time, not Damon. So I think “love” is not the appropriate word to describe what she felt for Damon. She fooled him for 145 years while she checked in on Stefan. She knew that daggering Elijah would kill Damon, still she didn’t care. She didn’t want Stefan to die. And even this time, she knew that Stefan’s life would be ruined if his brother would have died. So I think, yes, she wanted to save Damon, but I still think she did it mostly for Stefan, not for herself or because she loves Damon. I think the only one she ever loved is Stefan. Both her actions and words say so.
